What is TalkingStickies and what is it for?
TalkingStickies is a Holochain app for collaborative sticky-note boards: a group opens the same board and adds, moves and edits notes together as the changes happen. It exists so a group can keep one shared wall of notes that participants run through Holochain on their own machines.
TalkingStickies is a Holochain app for collaborative sticky-note boards. It grew out of a set of board apps published by the Holo-Host organisation — sticky notes alongside a KanBan board called KanDo — and it now lives in the holochain-apps repository, which describes it as a Holochain app for collaborative stickies boards with real-time collaboration.
For a group, it works like a shared wall of notes. People open the same board, write and rearrange notes, and see one another's changes as they happen, with the board held by the participants rather than by a hosting company.
The project is packaged as a .webhapp bundle for the Holochain Launcher, a desktop runtime that installs Holochain apps from an app store or from a file. Developers can also run it locally: the repository's start scripts bring up a small network of nodes with their own user interfaces, so two participants' boards can be seen syncing. The repository README documents those commands.
How to get it
Desktop app
- Build the app, which produces talking-stickies.webhapp together with its talking-stickies.happ component in the workdir folder
- Install the .webhapp with the Holochain Launcher, a desktop runtime that installs Holochain apps from its app store or from a file on your computer
