What is Mycelix v6 Living and what is it for?

Mycelix v6 Living is a research-stage Holochain project that models a bioregional coordination protocol as a set of "living" primitives — composting, wounds, trust, dreaming and the like — organised into repeating metabolism cycles. It exists to explore what community coordination and governance software might look like if its rules were modelled on biological and regenerative systems rather than on transactions.

Mycelix v6 Living is a research-stage project in the Luminous-Dynamics organisation that describes itself in its README as the "Mycelix v6.0 Living Protocol Layer". Its stated purpose is to extend Mycelix — a wider family of Holochain-based civic and coordination software published by the same organisation — with a layer of what it calls living primitives: rules for coordination, governance and collective decision-making modelled on biological and regenerative systems rather than on transactions.

The primitives are grouped into five families — metabolism, consciousness, epistemics, relational and structural — and the README lists twenty-one of them, from composting and wounds to trust, dreaming and resonance. They run on a repeating twenty-eight-day metabolism cycle with nine named phases, and the protocol applies gate checks at three levels: blocking invariants, soft warnings, and advisory network-health signals.

In practice the repository documents a Rust workspace with a WebSocket RPC server and a TypeScript SDK for querying cycle state — for example, asking which phase the cycle is currently in, or whether a given operation is permitted in that phase. The README is where to learn more. The repository is marked archived on GitHub, and its own materials describe research-stage work with experimental feature tiers rather than a supported release.

How to get it

As a library

  1. The repository is archived, so this documented build path is stale and has not been verified to work with current tooling.
  2. Install Rust with the wasm32-unknown-unknown target, and Node.js 18 or later with npm.
  3. Clone the repository and run `cargo build --release` to build the Rust crates.
  4. For the TypeScript SDK, run `npm install` and `npm run build` inside sdk/typescript.

Questions people ask

Is Mycelix v6 Living built on Holochain?
Yes — its README lists Holochain in the project's technology stack for distributed validation and DHT storage, and lists the Holochain SDK among its build prerequisites. source
Is Mycelix v6 Living still maintained?
The GitHub repository is marked archived, and its README documents research-stage work with experimental and aspirational feature tiers rather than a supported release for end users. source
How does Mycelix v6 Living relate to Mycelix?
Its README describes it as a layer that extends Mycelix with additional primitives, and it is published in the same GitHub organisation as the separate Mycelix project. source
