What is Mycelix EduNet and what is it for?
Mycelix EduNet is a decentralized education network: a learning platform where courses, progress and credentials sit with learners instead of on a school's server. It was built as a Holochain app that combines peer-to-peer learning, verifiable credentials and privacy-preserving machine learning, so shared models can improve without anyone's private study data being collected.
Mycelix EduNet is a decentralized education network, described by its authors as privacy-preserving decentralized education: a place to learn where the learner's data stays with the learner. Courses, progress and credentials are designed to live in a Holochain app shared directly between participants rather than in a school's database, and the network is meant to keep working when a device is offline. The idea in human terms is collaborative learning without a central collector: learners earn verifiable credentials that travel with them, and the network can improve a shared model from what many people learn without lifting anyone's private study data off their device. The code is a single repository holding four Holochain zomes for courses, federated learning, credentials and governance, Rust crates for the learning logic and aggregation, and a React web client for the interface, so the same records and credentials are intended to be readable across the whole network.
One concrete documented example is a training round: participants train on their own devices, submit only a clipped summary of their update, and the round's coordinator combines those summaries with a trimmed mean or median before releasing a new model with its provenance attached; raw training data never leaves the device.
