What is rostanga and what is it for?
rostanga is a phone app made by darksoil studio as a working test of running a Holochain app on a mobile device. The project is archived and no longer developed, and it carries no documentation of its own beyond its repository.
rostanga comes from darksoil studio, a small team that builds peer-to-peer apps for groups of people. Its name is that of Röstånga, the village in southern Sweden where the studio has long anchored its experiments, and the app itself was built for phones. The repository is now archived, and no release of it was ever recorded.
The app's role was to be a proving ground. Running a Holochain app on a phone was not something the platform supported at the time, so darksoil's developer put rostanga through a full cycle of development, deployment and testing on Android to find out what stood in the way.
That testing produced concrete findings: the app took about ten seconds to start each time it was opened, installing apps was slow, and network faults could leave an app paused. These were reported back into Holochain's own mobile work, which remains the fullest public account of rostanga. The archived repository is its only project page.
How to get it
