What is KanDo and what is it for?
KanDo is a Holochain app for collaborative kanban boards. Boards are shared between the people working on them, and the changes one person makes appear for the others in real time.
KanDo is a Holochain app for collaborative kanban boards, where cards move through columns as work progresses. It is maintained in the holochain-apps GitHub organisation, and its repository dates from July 2023.
The boards are shared between the people working on them rather than hosted on a company's servers. Updates travel directly between participants, so a card moved by one person appears on the others' boards as it happens; the project credits this real-time behaviour to syn, the Holochain library it builds on.
A developer can see this in miniature on a single machine: starting the project's default command brings up two local nodes and their two board interfaces, so the same board can be edited from both at once while the underlying conversations are inspected. Larger local networks can be started in the same way by choosing how many nodes to run.
How to get it

Questions people ask
- What do I need in order to work on KanDo itself?
- A Holochain development environment, entered through a nix shell before dependencies are installed; the project warns that its other commands only work inside that shell. source
- What makes the boards update in real time?
- The project uses syn, the Holochain library for shared, synchronised state, to carry collaboration between participants. source
- Can I build a bundle to hand to other people?
- Yes. The packaging step produces kando.webhapp, which the project says is the file to distribute for installation into the Holochain Launcher, alongside its kando.happ component. source
