What is Branchy and what is it for?
Branchy is a small Holochain app for Moss groups that arranges files, links and other resources into a shared hierarchy. It exists so a group can keep related material in one browsable structure instead of scattering it across conversations.
Branchy is a small Holochain app published by Lightningrod Labs as one of the tools written for the group runtime then called We, which later became Moss. It was not built as a standalone product: a group adds it to its workspace as a Moss Tool, alongside tools such as chat or boards.
The app's purpose is a shared hierarchy of resources. Files, links and other attachments become items in a nesting structure, so a group can keep related material in one place and browse it branch by branch rather than searching back through conversations. Attachments added to an item are also shown as embeds, so a document or image can be read within the structure.
One use would be keeping a project's documents, reference links and media as a single tree inside the group space where the group also talks, with a branch per workstream. The repository documents how to build the app and package it as a webhapp. hAppRadar lists the project's activity as stalled: its latest release, v0.1.1, dates from April 2024, so those build notes describe an older snapshot.
