hREA adds ValueFlows queries and broadens its data checks

hREA’s ValueFlows 1.0 update adds economic queries and validation, and its interfaces work with compatible backends such as Bonfire.

hREA is a Holochain toolkit for coordinating economic activity, with building blocks for supply chains, project management, logistics and enterprise resource planning. On 16 September 2026, @Soushi888 merged an update that brings ValueFlows 1.0 to Holochain 0.7. The project also supports gift and contributory economies.
ValueFlows aims to make different economic software applications interoperable. With this update, applications can distinguish offers from requests and query each kind. hREA says interfaces built for it are compatible with other ValueFlows backends, including Bonfire, a modular, federated social platform.
The merged update adds new kinds of economic information and checks across hREA’s data. Those checks can reject writes that an older hREA release accepted, with a message naming the rule. The change also brings hREA’s implementation onto Holochain 0.7.

hREA expands its ValueFlows queries and integrity checks

Before this update, hREA checked economic events and proposals, while other data types had permissive placeholders. New rules cover timing, non-negative quantities, required text, and fields that must remain unchanged during updates; they also check geographic coordinates and limit collection sizes. Transfer actions must name both a provider and receiver, while an intent’s minimum quantity cannot exceed its available quantity. For teams upgrading from happ-0.4.0-beta, a write the earlier conductor accepted may now be rejected with a message naming the rule.
Applications can distinguish offers from requests, and hREA’s GraphQL interface exposes queries for both. New records cover claims, spatial things and agreement bundles; economic events can link to settlements and reciprocal activity, while commitments can refer to reciprocal clauses. The branch also adds fields for resource substitution and an effort quantity for economic events. hREA says its interfaces are compatible with other ValueFlows backends, including Bonfire. The update also changes hREA’s adapter to read timestamp information from its new location in Holochain 0.7; previously, retrieved revision times came back null.

Holochain 0.7 moves validation signatures and requires a wasm flag

The upgrade moves hREA to hdk 0.7.0, hdi 0.8.0 and @holochain/client 0.21. Validation signatures now use TypedAction<EntryCreationData> and related types, and wasm builds require RUSTFLAGS='--cfg getrandom_backend="custom"'. Tryorama is retired; Sweettest now covers the zome boundary, with 47 tests across 6 binaries and 0 failures against a live Holochain 0.7 conductor. The mandatory backend flag is part of the wasm build setup for hdi 0.8.0.
