What is ValiChord and what is it for?
ValiChord is a peer-to-peer system for checking whether published computational research can be reproduced by someone other than its author. Independent validators re-run a study, and their findings — including disagreement — become a permanent record that cannot be changed afterwards.
According to the project's own account, most published computational research has never been independently verified — not because verification is impossible, but because no shared infrastructure exists to coordinate it or to keep a durable record of what it finds. ValiChord is built to supply that coordination for computational studies.
A validation round runs in two phases. The researcher first seals their reported result, so it cannot be changed later. Independent validators then re-run the study, and each seals their own verdict before seeing anyone else's. Only once every verdict is sealed are the seals opened together, and the outcome — including disagreement — is written to a record that cannot afterwards be altered or removed. The project calls that record a Harmony Record and builds the system on Holochain.
The project's README points to a browser demo for trying the protocol without a local setup: a visitor states a claim, seals their own answer, and supplies their own Anthropic API key, after which three AI validators research the claim blind and the visitor triggers the reveal.
