Carbon Farm Network

What is Carbon Farm Network and what is it for?

Carbon Farm Network is a Holochain app for the New York Carbon Farm Network, a purchasing cooperative where small brands and independent designers work together to source fibers from farms using carbon-farming practices. It exists to support collaborative sourcing of Climate Beneficial fibers and making yarns for textile products.

The New York Carbon Farm Network brings small brands and independent designers together to source Climate Beneficial fibers from farms using carbon-farming practices. Its purchasing-cooperative model organizes designers’ shared sourcing work.

The network connects designers with farms growing these fibers, with the aim of turning regional farm fiber into yarn for textile products. The app is associated with this cooperative sourcing effort.

For a concrete example, New York Textile Lab describes using fibers grown on healthy, climate-beneficial soil and working with local farms, mills and manufacturers. The network homepage explains its cooperative model and fiber-to-yarn purpose.
